About the Role
We are looking for a senior Platform Engineer to join CDWare and own the infrastructure that our products run on, the pipelines that ship them, and the tooling that keeps the engineering team moving fast. This is a high-ownership, high-impact role with direct influence over how we build and operate at scale.
This role reports directly to the Head of Engineering. You will work across a diverse portfolio of cloud-hosted products spanning Azure and AWS, establishing standards and practices that raise the bar for how we build and operate platform infrastructure across the company.
About CDWare
CDWare is a fleet management software company in hypergrowth, expanding into new verticals and markets across North America. We build vertically specialized software for industries where operations are mission-critical.
What You’ll Do
- Own and maintain cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS for CDWare’s portfolio of products, including Kubernetes clusters (AKS, EKS), VMs, and self-hosted services such as Kafka, MongoDB, and managed PostgreSQL
- Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines that increase deployment reliability and developer velocity
- Own networking and connectivity across environments: VPN configuration, DNS, load balancing, and firewall rules
- Automate IT infrastructure workflows including employee onboarding and offboarding, and integrations between Rippling and the broader tool ecosystem
- Drive cloud migrations and infrastructure modernization across the product portfolio
- Enforce security best practices across all infrastructure: access control, secrets management, network segmentation, and vulnerability awareness
- Define and implement infrastructure as code practices that scale as the team grows
- Own the pager for infrastructure incidents, you are the first line of response for production infrastructure issues, and you drive resolution end to end
- Use AI tools to accelerate infrastructure work: generating and reviewing infrastructure as code, diagnosing incidents, and building internal documentation and runbooks
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering experience
- Deep hands-on experience with both Azure and AWS, including compute, networking, storage, and managed services
- Strong Kubernetes expertise in production environments, AKS and/or EKS
- Experience operating self-hosted distributed systems including Kafka, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL
- CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance using GitLab, GitHub Actions, or equivalent
- Infrastructure as code mindset, with production experience using Terraform, Pulumi, or equivalent
- Solid networking fundamentals: VPN, DNS, load balancing, firewall configuration
- Security-first thinking applied across IAM, secrets management, network segmentation, and access control
- Proven comfort owning infrastructure incidents end to end, including on-call responsibility
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and IT
- Openness to AI tooling as a productivity lever, with the judgment to validate and own the output
Nice to Have
- Pulumi (TypeScript) or Terraform specifically
- Experience with IT automation platforms such as Rippling, Okta, or similar identity and HR tooling
- SOC 2 compliance experience, audit evidence collection, or security controls implementation
- Background in a hypergrowth or multi-product SaaS environment
- French, bilingual is a meaningful asset on our team
Why Join Us
Join a company that’s actually going somewhere.
CDWare is a dynamic, fast-growing SMB with real momentum, expanding into new verticals and markets across North America, with genuine potential for the people who help build it. This is not a role where you maintain what someone else built. It is a role where you define how infrastructure is done at CDWare and build the team around it.
- Be the architect of our platform foundation. You will set the standards, own the decisions, and shape how a growing engineering organization operates at scale.
- Grow with the company. We are scaling fast across North America, which means real opportunities to take on more scope and build your career alongside the business.
- Group benefits program and insurance. Competitive group coverage from day one.
- Remote-first flexibility. Work from anywhere in Canada, with hybrid options in Montreal, Quebec City, and Sherbrooke.
- A team that shows up for each other. Annual company offsite, team activities throughout the year, and a culture where the work is serious but the people make it worth it.
